Welcome fellow dog lovers to Four Pawsitive Reinforcement Dog Training ❤️🐾🐾 If you are seeking humane, fun, fear free, pain free, force free, science-based dog training, then you have come to the right place!

I am available in person in San Jose, CA and cities within 25 miles. Travel fee or
Zoom sessions available for other areas.

My training philosophy is to do no harm and to always use methods that are fear free, force free, and pain free. This leads to the strongest bond possible between you and your dog ❤️🐾🐾. I will never recommend the use of shock collars, prong collars or choke collars, or any other kinds of punishment tools or techniques that use fear and force to control or change behavior. That is inhumane, inhibits learning, compromises your relationship and inevitably leads to a dog who either becomes aggressive over time or completely shuts down. Why would anyone want to do that, when there is a humane way to train with no behavioral side effects?

I will show you how to

KEEP IT PAWSITIVE!

About me

I am a certified dog trainer, CPDT-KA and a Fear Free Certified Professional, FFCP with several years of training experience in private and group settings. I began this journey volunteering at an animal shelter 10 years ago, and eventually became a full-time employee on the animal behavior team which then led me to becoming a dog trainer. As a result of my shelter background,

I'm a more well-rounded, insightful and empathic trainer.

Whether you need training help with your new puppy, adolescent, adult or senior dog, I will design a plan specifically for you and your dog's needs. Every dog is different, so I find it much more effective to focus on one household at a time.  I will show you how to develop the strongest bond possible with your dog which inevitably leads to the best behavior!
This is me with my four shelter rescue dogs, who are my pride and joy, and also help me keep my skills fresh.

    Testimonials

"I adopted a new rescue dog in mid November called Pepper. She and her three puppies were transported to the Humane Society of Silicon Valley from another shelter. Her 3 puppies were adopted and now it was her turn to find her furever home. She was a bit shy when I brought her home but soon discovered that she had several behavioral issues probably because she was never socialized as a young puppy. With all her these challenges I knew I needed help.

I met Carolyn when she worked at HSSV as a member of their behavioral team; and when I heard she became a fear-free dog trainer I knew I had to work with her. And it has been the best decision.

Carolyn is calm, compassionate, and empathetic; and has been a comfort to both Pepper and me. She has  given me a detailed plan of how to best help Pepper and continues to send me resources I use to become a better dog parent. Best of all, she is available via text to answer all my questions and coaches me through difficult moments when I think I’m failing my dog. If you are a new dog/puppy parent, I highly recommend working with Carolyn. She is the best!!"
